27th Tango Collaboration Meeting, May 21-24, 2013
TANGO is an object oriented distributed control system using
CORBA (synchronous and asynchronous communication) and
zeromq
(event based communication) and is being actively developed as a collaborative effort between the
Alba,
Desy,
Elettra,
ESRF ,
FRM II,
MAX-IV,
Solaris and
Soleil institutes.
The TANGO Collaboration members meet twice a year to discuss developments and control system relevant problems.
The meeting is open to other institutions interested in this subject. The list of proposed topics to discuss in this meeting is listed in
the Program tab.
The 27th Tango collaboration meeting will be hosted by CELLS-ALBA Synchrotron and will take place the 23rd and 24th of May 2013 .
The executive committee will also meet during these days.
A satellite workshop will introduce Sardana, an experiment control framework developed using Tango. This workshop is open to anyone
interested in learning how Sardana works and the status of its development. Sardana Workshop and Tango Meeting can be attended as
separate events, registering for Workshop or Meeting instead of Full Event.

(1) Tango Meeting 2013 fee includes the participation in Tango Meeting
from May 23rd to 24th, as well as 3 coffee breaks, 1 Dinner with a guided visit to Casa Milà, also known as "La Pedrera", one of the Gaudi's works,
which is inscribed on the World Heritage List, on Thursday evening.
The Sardana Workshop to be held on May 21st and 22nd will be covered by Alba. The inscription is free for everybody up to a limited number of participants.

Program
Topics For Tango Meeting Talks
Talks can be proposed by the members of TANGO collaboration until May 17th. The talks will be grouped in topic sessions.
Companies and Institutes that are not part of the Tango Collaboration can submit its own Talk proposals to
before May 10th.
Currently, the proposed topics of common interest are:
- Status of Tango 8 upgrade on each facility
- Tango Collaboration and Spreading (logo contest, new institutes, parallel projects, ...)
- Tango and Industry
- Android, iOS, html5, Cloud and new client platforms.
- Continuous Integration and Testing.
- Tango Archiving, Status and Evolution
- Nexus integration

Sardana Workshop
SARDANA is a scientific SCADA oriented to experiment control developed on TANGO.
Our mission statement:
Produce a modular, high performance, robust, and generic user environment for control applications in large and small
installations.
Make Sardana the generic user environment distributed in the TANGO project and the standard basis of collaborations in control.

The Sardana Workshop will introduce and provide some training for the different tools that are part of Sardana (Device Pool, Taurus UI, Macro Server, Spock CLI). This workshop is open to all members of the Tango Collaboration, external Institutions and Industrial partners interested in using Sardana or developing Sardana based control systems.

Special rate conference accommodation available
We have negotiated a special conference rate for rooms at the Hotel Campus, close to the Synchrotron.
Room rates are 65,97€ per night (VAT Included, breakfast included).
You may share your room for the same price, if you pay the additional breakfast.

The hotel is 5mn walk from Bellaterra FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya) train station, linea S2, and 40mn walk from ALBA Synchrotron.

Transport
ALBA-CELLS facilities are very close to the AP7 (connecting Barcelona with France) and C58 highways. From the Barcelona city center you can reach the site via C58 (Google Maps).
Arriving by plane
Barcelona International airport is the closest airport to ALBA-CELLS facilities. It is well connected to the Barcelona city center in approx. 30 minutes by train to downtown stations (BCN-Sants, BCN-Passeig de Gracia) and by bus to Catalunya Square (Plaça Catalunya).

You can get to ALBA by public transport by train and bus (please read below).
The Barcelona main train stations are BCN-Sants or BCN-Estació de França. Both stations are connected to the subway. Renfe is the Spanish railway company.
Getting to ALBA from Barcelona downtown in public transportFrom Catalunya Square (Plaça Catalunya) you can use 2 train companies that offer you 2 options:
- Take the line R4 of RENFE in direction to Terrassa/Manresa and stop at Cerdanyola del Vallès. Once there, two bus lines connect Cerdanyola del Vallès RENFE station with ALBA-CELLS site (Line A4 Cerdanyola del Vallès-Sant Cugat and Line B7 Cerdanyola del Vallès - Rubí). Bus stop is Sincrotrò.
- Take the FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya) sign and take the lines , , or and stop at Sant Cugat station. Once you go out of the station by the Lluis Millet square exit, you have to take the bus ( Line A4 or Line B7). The bus stop is on the street "Carrer del Safareigs", when exiting the train station take the road fully on your right.
